I created some fringed tissue paper and sewed it onto my layout to add some frill and lift to the page. To break up the paper strip look a tad and add some more texture - I laid some lace ribbon over the top of a couple of the paper 'tiles'. With a few little embellishments here and there, the page was finished.

I'm digging this tiled look - thinkin' I might use this method again sometime :-)

And here are some close-ups...

I chose to base my layout around a special moment with my big girl - we wrote a story together. I so love her imagination and her animated ways. Bit like her mother actually ;-)

I am sure you will get a kick out of the ending as much as I did. Laugh-out-loud moment that one!!

Some of the elements on this page were experiments gone RIGHT! - which is always a good thing.

One of these was the embossed tulle circles on the page. This was quite simple really - I grabbed a rectangular scrap piece of tulle, laid it on top of some paper, dabbed it all over with a Versamark pad, sprinkled over desired colour embossing powder, shook off any excess and poured back into the pot. I then used my heat gun to melt the embossing powder onto the tulle. When it was dry, I punched out circles and added these to my layout. I really loved the effect they give on the page.

I printed the story onto gold vellum and cut to size. Also the word 'Golden' was printed onto the vellum and I cut around that and included as well.

With the 'Let's write a story' circle, I actually designed this myself on my phone using the Rhonna Designs app. I selected a background and added text in different fonts, played around with the placement and size of the words and saved to my camera roll. When I uploaded my photos to the computer I printed this picture out onto plain white A4 cardstock. It was square so I used my Creative Memories circle cutter to create the element for my page.

Other materials used on the page are...

- old book pages

-rhinestones

- cork stickers

- Cherry flair (APOCD)

- washi tape

- sequins

- waterpaint

- date stamp

- wood veneer shape

- journal pen

- mini bow (D-Lish Scraps)

And there you go.

Why not join in too. More details can be found HERE.

Hope you enjoy this mood board!

Take care now.

Some cutting.

And lots of sticking down.

She was totally independent with this layout, except for some double sided tape issues which Mummy helped with as well as some scissor work - but she planned and executed this layout with very little prompting. She knew exactly what she wanted and where everything was gonna go. I had to curb her 'bossy-ness' just a few times ;-)

Independent little character we are raising here!! LOL!

And I was rather astounded at the result!

So here it is in all its glory...

Oh - another bit of Mummy assistance was for the text. I had to write the words on another piece of paper and she copied them onto the journal card. So love seeing her cute kindy handwriting on this layout!!

She wanted the balloons bunched up just like in the picture and when I looked at how she had placed the washi tape - it actually does look like a bow!! I don't know if she is aware of that or if she even meant for that but I think that it is super cool :-)

Some close-ups for you...

This was her first full-on proper scrapbook layout!

I am so proud of her!

But hey, pretty much all mothers say that at their kids achievements!!

But more of the reason that I am proud of her, is that she stuck to it! Her concentration levels tend to waver quite abit at longer tasks and she can become easily distracted -  but with this she sat down and did it from start to finish (well the watercolour balloons were done on a separate day to give drying time!) - but it is such an achievement! So happy with her and her effort.

A Fairy Butterfly!

It was so pretty. There was some reluctance when it came time to wash it off.

But much fun was had and that is what matters!

And I can tell you this -

There was no complaints at bed time. Straight to sleep no problem for these two ;-)

LOL!

I had a little difficulty in photographing this layout - I think mainly due to its brightness. I just had a hard time getting the photo true to the colour, even in natural light the camera didn't seem to want to capture it right!! But I did finally get one that came the closest to the true look. Then it came to cropping and I realised I still need to work on lining the camera up correctly so as I can get a true square crop - none of this 'one-corner-cut-off-because-it's-crooked' business! Grrrrr!

Any tips anyone? What do you find is the best way in photographing your layouts?

Anyway, be sure to check out the Jot Blog for more deets on this challenge and feel free to get busy and participate :-D

And don't forget that the Project Life Journal Card Series has begun over on the Jot Blog - we are up to day 2 and you can see what the lovely Stephanie from the Jot Team has created using her stash of Project Life cards. Absolutely gorgeous work.

And there is MUCH more to look forward to. Every day there is new work featured by a member of the Jot team that you can be inspired by. And if you like my work and wanna see what I created, maybe, say...Thursday - might be a good day to visit the Jot blog ;-) hehe!

Well, my readers, I do hope you are staying well. We have been suffering a dodgy flu bug lately but hopefully we are coming to the end now. Hoping hubby doesn't pick it up.

Enjoy your day.

Take care :-)
