I absolutely love going to craft fairs and markets. It doesn't happen as often as I like but when it does I get extremely excited.
Let me show you my two favourite craft projects I did at the Craft & Quilt Fair...
Because I have been fairly focused on crochet lately I attended a couple of the craft circles that involved this. I have only just learnt to crochet about 4 months ago so it is relatively new. I had been told by many that crochet is very easy - even easier than knitting. Now, I knit quite abit and when looking at crochet, to me it looked hard. But one night, I decided to 'bite the bit' and do it. So...I pulled up a You Tube tutorial on the computer, sat there with my ball of wool and hook and learnt how to crochet a granny square. It was the most exciting feeling as I grasped the skill and actually saw it take place in my hands. There were a few initial attempts which were botch-ups but I did get it in the end and I felt SO proud of myself. Since then, I had been pumping out a whole heap of granny squares which I will use for a rug for my little Sprout!
At the fair, I decided to be brave and try a different kind of crochet. It was called Tunisian Crochet and the craft circle was for making a purse using this method. I really like it and it is actually quite easy. It uses a longer hook as you actually add stitches onto the needle/hook.
Here is what it looks like close up. There is some embellishments that you can do along the edge of the front flap of the purse but I don't know if I can handle those yet. The purse without the embellishments will look just fine once I finish it. I like it alot!
Another recent interest of mine has been about anything vintage. I am really into big flower brooches, frills and ruffles that can be added to your clothing that just makes an outfit look that much more spectacular. But it doesn't just stop there!

But it doesn't just stop there!A woman named Gabriella Kerkez from Miss Rose, Sister Violet opened my eyes to lots of frilly, lacy and flowery ways to decorate different objects in a vintage way!! She came up with such awesome ideas and just fed my creative spirit!!
She took me aside one-on-one and she showed me how to make the lovely brooch which is pictured. Of course, it could also be made into a headpiece as well.
And pretty much everything she does is just stuck together using a hot glue gun. No sewing required if you do it the Gabriella Kerkez way. I liked that about her, she was so free and easygoing about her creating yet filled with such passion for beauty. And believe me, what she made was truly beautiful. It was totally inspiring.
You can read her blog HERE. It is not fully developed yet but will be soon so keep visiting!
Apart from catching up with my family - the Australian Craft & Quilt Fair was one of the main reasons why we arranged to go to Melbourne at this time. I have been to the Melbourne fair before a few years ago with Mum and one of my sisters and it was great. It was just as fun this year.
I'll show you why...
^This is the entrance and before the 'gates' open of a morning, they do a little dance which they get people from the line-up to join in. And guess who was one of the people who got picked on the first morning? Of course, it was me - who else? But it didn't go unrewarded...
^I got this little package from BLUE WILLOW COTTAGE who were celebrating their 10th birthday for their business.
^This is what was in it. A whole lot of little goodies that I was very pleased to receive. Well worth the dance I'd say!!
^The first craft circle I did was about crochet flowers. Above is a photo of one of the flowers I learnt to crochet. The other one was abit harder to do but even prettier - I do have a photo of this one but every photo I took was blurry so I'm not even gonna bother posting it. Just believe when I say that it was gorgeous and that I will be making another attempt at making one!!
^Another craft circle I attended, was to make this groovy little Japanese Lucky Owl, run by Jane MacDonald from BE BE BOLD, which was absolutely fantastic. I can't wait to make some more. I would like to make some of these in purple and teal colours to put on display in my little Sprout's room eventually. I think they are so cute. They can be purchased as a kit with 3 different sizes in it too.

Can you see why it's so much fun!!
I'll be back abit later with some more of my favourite craft projects I did...

Isn't that what little kiddies do when they aren't very well - grizzle?

P.S. Just a little note on the blankie that my little Sprout has draped over her - I made hubby and myself one each to take camping a few years back! They are so warm and cosy. And they are really easy to make - I will have to describe how easy in another post another day!!
It happens every winter - but the knitting needles come out and I don't stop, I have always got a knitting or crochet project on the go these days. As a gift for a friend who just had her second child, I rearranged the sock slipper pattern down to a baby bootie size and knitted up these bits of cuteness. I hope they like 'em!
Crafty holiday pics are on their way. I have downloaded the photos from my mobile and now just need to load photos onto my computer from my digital camera and I'll be all set.

I know, I know. I did say that I was going to post some crafty pictures from my holiday but I haven't properly unpacked yet so the 'projects' have not all been found so I can photograph them all to show you. They are coming though - I promise! Life after a holiday is quite constant, it's quite bamboozling!
However, here are a few cool things I'd like to share with you...
Today, I went into town (by myself, I might add - little Sprout went with her Daddy in the tractor for the morning). I have been wanting to get some gumboots for our little girl for a while now cos she loves jumping in puddles and getting all wet. They'd also be handy for out on the farm.

Well...today I went to a shop I haven't been to before but wanted to check out and low-and-behold - there was a box with kids gumboots for sale outside the door. I grabbed a pair, paid for them (along with a few other items) and bought them home. She found them in our shoe box at the door, where I'd left them, after her nap and has worn them on and off the rest of the afternoon.
In the mail today, I received this postcard from AUSTRALIA - lol. It was from some very good friends from back in Tassie who are on holiday at the moment in Queensland. My first postcard for my collection from my own country. How cool is that?!
Another exciting item in my mailbox was a letter from my new penpal in Moscow, Russia. It was full of pictures of where she lives and landmarks around that area and also of her and her little girl. I am so pleased to be corresponding with someone from another country - thanks to Postcrossing. It's my turn to write so I am going to find some really nice stationery and get writing!

Every city has different sights/objects/architecture/activities that is unique to them.
Whilst in Melbourne I was exposed to a few of this cities sights to see. Here are a few snapshots to start my holiday pics off...
I was walking back to our apartment across the riverfront of the casino and you will find some of these funny looking colourful sculpture thingys. It's interesting so I took a photo.
One of my favourite shots before walking across the bridge. And to think this is only taken on my mobile phone which isn't an iPhone, just an ordinary 3G LG phone. It takes some good shots though sometimes!
This was a view out of the lounge room window of our apartment that I woke up to one morning (I was sleeping on the fold-out couch). A pair of hot air balloons. What a glorious sight to behold!
On our last day, we went and had coffee at Starbucks. I had never been to Starbucks before - I always go to Gloria Jeans. I must say that this made up for not having Gloria Jeans on our holiday at all.
